Strong Foundations build strong people
What we do in the gym carries into every part of life! From lifting, to chasing your kids, to feeling confident in your own body
Meet Gee. A selfless mum with a story that inspires everyone around her.
After having three children of her own, G became a surrogate to help her friends grow their family. What no one could have predicted was that after giving birth, she would suffer a stroke from an undiagnosed heart condition. At such a young age, she suddenly found herself navigating the complexities of being both postpartum and recovering from a stroke, a challenge that would have stopped many in their tracks.
But G's courage, resilience, and determination have been nothing short of incredible. From the beginning, her goal was simple yet powerful: to live a full life, be the mum her children deserve, and not let her stroke define her future. Through physiotherapy, we focused on, neuroplasticity, pelvic health, rebuilding strength, retraining movement, and creating a pathway back to the activities she loves. Step by step, she has returned to running, rediscovered her love of the gym, and built the confidence to try new things like cycling, swimming and even skiing.
Today, G has returned to work in a new capacity, continues to embrace fitness, and most importantly, makes time for what matters most, being present with her husband and kids, making memories with them. Her story is a reminder of the power of perseverance, the importance of tailored rehabilitation, and the unshakable strength of a mother determined to live fully.
Meet Ken. To know Ken is to love him.
At 80 years old, Ken faced an unimaginable challenge when he was diagnosed with CIDP, a condition where the body attacks the nerves. After seven long months in hospital, he left in a wheelchair, unable to walk.
With pure grit and determination, and the unwavering support of his wife Pat, Ken began the long road back to independence. My role was to guide him with evidence-based physiotherapy, focusing on strength, cardiovascular fitness, and balance, giving him the tools to turn effort into progress. Step by step, Ken went from a wheelchair, to a walker, and now to confidently walking with poles.
When I first asked Ken about his big goal, he told me it was to return to O’Reilly’s, the special place where he and Pat honeymooned and created countless memories. At the time, it seemed like an impossible dream. But with consistency, persistence, and Pat’s constant encouragement, Ken not only made it back, he has been able to return multiple times.
Ken’s story is one of resilience, love, and never giving up. He shows us what’s possible when determination meets the right guidance and when you have someone by your side who believes in you every step of the way.
